The term “straight ally” is derived from “straight,” which means “heterosexual,” and “ally,” which means “supporter,” hence, “straight-ally” literally means “a heterosexual person supporting trans community.”
The term “straight ally” is a slur or slang that is used to describe a typically straight or cisgender person who is a friend, supporter, and advocate of the oppressed population of LGBTQ+ community, but does not identify themselves as part of the LGBTQ+.
An ally supports and respects members of the LGBTQ community in a personal and professional capacity, and they stand up and speak out even when the people they're allying for aren't there, to show their support for them.
Allies are not part of the LGBTQ communities that they support, and it is someone who does not self-identify as an ally but does so through their actions.
