What Is The Meaning Or Definition Of Cisnormativity / Cisnormativist:

The term “cisnormativity” is derived from the word “cis,” which means "the same as," or "on the same side of" and “normative,” which means “sexually normal,” hence, “cis-normativity” literally means “cis genders are the only ones normal.”

The term “cisnormativity” is used to describe the assumption, in individuals and institutions, that everyone belongs to the cisgender, and that cisgender identities and people are superior to trans identities and people.

Cisnormativity is the societal and structural assumption that all people should identify with the gender that was assigned to them at birth.

Cisnormativity leads to the invisibility or invalidity of non-cisgender identities.
