Brownie Points Origin Meaning

"Brownie Points" Is An Idiomatic Phrase Or Proverbial Saying Which Means Using An Imaginary Social Currency That Can Be Earned By Doing Good Deeds Or By Doing Favor For Someone

What Is Meaning And Definition Of Brownie Points: The phrase "Brownie Points" means someone does a favor or something out of the ordinary for someone. Each time such a favor is carried out, that person earns points known as brownie points that can be used to get rewarded in return at some point in the future.  In other words, brownie points are like favor points that one person earns by doing something special for the other person. The first person can cash these points by asking that other person to return the favor when the right time comes, or when there is a need of some sort.  Of course, there is no cash or monetary value attached to these brownie points. It is almost like, "ok, I scratched your back when you needed it, and I will ask you to scratch my back when I need it," it is as simple as that, nothing more, nothing less.  These brownie points are also sometimes earned to impress someone or to be in the good books of someone, so there does not have to be an even exchange all the time. For instance, a husband or boyfriend may do something out of the ordinary for his wife or girlfriend, and can ask her to do something in return at some point.  The brownie points are like an exchange of favors between friends, lovers, spouses, and even family members. For instance, an employee can do some extra work for their employee to earn brownie points which may help them when it comes to getting a bonus or a raise, or simply to keep their job.
