What Is The Meaning Or Definition Of Demisexual / Demisexuality:

The term “demisexual” is derived from the prefix “demi,” which means “half,” and “sexual,” which means “related to sex,” hence, “demi-sexual” literally means “halfway between the sexual and asexual spectrum.”

The term “demisexual” or “demisexuality” is used to describe people who must form a strong emotional bond, and then a romantic or sexual attraction towards someone, however, it does not mean that a demisexual person has incomplete or half sexuality.

Demisexual people have a profound need to form a certain level of closeness or an emotional bond with their partner first. Such a situation is quite different from abstinence because they simply are unable to develop romantic feelings or engage in sex until a committed relationship is formed.

Demisexual is a person who feels sexually attracted to someone only after developing a deep emotional bond. An emotional bond can vary anywhere from a brief, intense period of closeness to years of knowing someone.

Demisexual people don’t experience sexual attraction unless they form an emotional connection with someone. They experience sexual attraction only under specific circumstances, such as after forming an emotional relationship with a person.

Demisexuals almost have none or very little capacity to feel sexual attraction unless a strong romantic connection is built with someone, frequently within the parameters of a romantic relationship. It's when one can only feel sexual attraction to someone after developing a close emotional bond with them.

Most people tend to develop an almost instant sexual attraction to other people when they first come across someone, but it is the other way around with demisexuals. The primary deciding factor in whether or not to develop sexual feelings for someone depends on how deep their emotional connection is with that person.

Demisexuals do not experience primary sexual attraction, but they do experience secondary emotional appeal. They don’t engage in sexual activities just because of sexual attraction; instead, they have sex with people with whom they have developed a deep emotional bond.

Demisexuals do have a lack of sexual attraction, but that doesn’t mean that have a low sex drive or low appetite for sex. They just need to have profound emotional feelings before they can have a sexual attraction or sexual activities with their partner.

Demisexuality does not refer to restraint or suppression of sexual desires or activities, and it also does not mean that there can be no sexual feelings without having emotional feelings. It merely means that without first developing emotional intimacy, there can be no sexual attraction or intimacy formed.

For demisexuals, the level or degree of intimacy that needs to be developed before getting sexual varies from one person to another. So, the level of connection that is required for sexual desires to form and sexual activities to take place depends on the closeness of the emotional relationship instead of mere initial attraction.

For demisexuals, developing an emotional bond does not automatically imply that sexual attraction will most definitely occur, but an emotional bond must occur to create sexual feelings. Such people find it impossible to develop sexual attraction unless there is a deep emotional bond, they simply cannot get sexually attracted to someone regardless of how good-looking that person may be if there is no emotional connection.

Demisexual people fall somewhere halfway between sexual and asexual. Demisexuals are sometimes considered as a part of the asexual community because for the majority of the time and situation, they don't feel sexual attraction.

Many demisexuals are also not very interested in sex, so they have a lot of commonalities with asexuals. Many demisexuals are only attracted to only a very few people in their entire lifetimes, or in some cases just one person.

Demisexuals can have any kind of romantic orientation. A demisexiual can be a demi-heterosexual, demi-homosexual, demi-bisexual, demi-pansexual, etc.
